Ahead of the play off semis against Lincoln, Lee Johnson reckons his side can beat anyone over two legs…
FANS
"I think there's a natural excitement that will come with this. First and foremost, the fans being back in the stadium. I'm unbelievably excited about it. The players were talking about it in training a lot. Even the away game having that feeling of a 'cause creating a cause' going into an away game where there's no fans supporting Sunderland. It becomes that siege mentality and then to come back - which is why I think the second leg at home is important for our fans who haven't seen us for a while, and should be buoyed by a good performance. They should hopefully get us over the line with that passion that I've heard so much about, and seen it actually but not experienced it."
FOCUSED
"To be honest for me it was more about getting us right. I always fancy us if we're at our best; mentally, physically, technically and tactically. If we're at it and we've had a good weeks training, if the boys are well rested and well focussed, I believe we can beat anyone - particularly over two legs. That's no disrespect to the other teams. That's me as Sunderland head coach who believes in my team. I do believe we will turn up. Everything that we're doing between now and then is to get us in that frame of mind."
