GAME PLAN
“It was a good atmosphere for sure. I liked the first part of the game. Tactically it was very interesting because we started very well. That was the way we wanted to play this game. The only regret I could have is that we didn’t score twice and when we had high momentum, it could have been very interesting to score another goal. Because after that, the game is different when you have a big difference in the score. But after that, even if we were not able to recover the ball quickly we solved some problems at half time and during the second half that was better. At the end we didn’t concede many chances. So the balance of the game was sometimes leaning towards Burnley, they are a good team and they have the ability to keep the ball in very tight spaces. With our intensity it sometimes wasn’t possible to recover the ball quickly. But we felt the confidence in the team because we all worked together.”
DOMINANT PERIOD
“I think it was very interesting. I thought we could have played like that maybe later, but during the first part of the game it was very impressive - just with the regret that we didn’t score a second goal. That is very important and when we have that sort of domination, we really need to condemn. It wasn’t the case, but at the end the team spirit was involved with the stadium and the fans. We felt that the energy was there and it was very difficult for Burnley to create danger in our box.”
MUNDLE IMPACT
“I explained before that sometimes when we lose a player, we think that we need to recruit another one. Sometimes, that player is already in the squad but they need opportunities to play. That was the case today for Romaine, and he played well. I think now that needs to repeat, because consistency is the key. But this game was very good for him.”
SQUAD DEPTH
“We need all the players involved in this league because it is too long to play with only 11 players. It is good news for us to have these players on the bench, the players who played today were good and we know that these ones are also available for the team. For sure, we’ll need 16, 17, even 20 players who are very strong together. Sometimes some of them won’t play but we need to play as a team, as a unit.”
