RLB EXPLAINS JEWI SITUATION

After being linked with a loan move away all summer, Jewison Bennette remained on Wearside and now finds himself so far down the pecking order that he's having to play left back for the U21s due to Tommy Watson's form on the left wing. Regis Le Bris has admitted this is not ideal and says Bennette's long-term future probably won't be at left back.

SHORT TERM PLAN

“We can try to see how he plays at left-back. It is still useful for his development and his experiences. I don't think it's his position, but he can learn there in games like this (with the Under-21s).”

NEEDS SENIOR MINUTES

“It's difficult because we felt that he needed senior football, and of course with the Under-21s he is still playing youth football. But he can train with the senior team and have this kind of game, so it's only four months (until the transfer window reopens) and then we can see after that.”
