PLAYER RATINGS V HULL CITY

A wonderful second half goal from Wilson Isidor keeps us top of the league for another week. Here’s how everybody fared.

ANTHONY PATTERSON: 7/10

He didn’t have an awful lot to do but he made a great save in the second half after a deflected Cirkin tackle. His distribution was quite good as well.

TRAI HUME: 8/10

A massively improved performance compared to what we’ve seen at times from him this season. He was much more controlled and managed to avoid the book as a result of this.

CHRIS MEPHAM: 8.5/10

Mepham bailed us out on at least three different occasions though out the game, without him they would have scored at least once. Physically, he was a foreboding presence for their attackers. Arguably fortunate to avoid a red card for handball just before half time, but that was largely down to unlucky timing rather than a lack of quality or anything like that.

LUKE O’NIEN: 6.5/10

In the second half he did quite well but his first half performance was bad. He gave the ball away a few times and I think he pulled himself too far forward which gave Hull more time and space than we should have given them.

DENNIS CIRKIN: 7.5/10

A pretty standard Dennis Cirkin performance, meaning he was fantastic for most of the match. There was a little error in the first half that could have cost us when he slipped slightly though.

CHRIS RIGG: 7/10

I think he could have done better at times but overall he played his role well. The last parts of the second half were where he really showed his quality off.

DAN NEIL: 7.5/10

Quite similar to Rigg, in that he struggled in the first half at times but was better in the second. Neil got the assist for the goal as well.

JOBE BELLINGHAM: 8/10

The best of the midfielders today, I think. He was good when under pressure and got himself out of some tricky situations. Very nearly scored with a low driven effort too.

PATRICK ROBERTS: 6/10

He kept cutting inside and then took too long to do anything, he needs to be quicker at passing or crossing the ball next time he plays.

ROMAINE MUNDLE: 7/10

I think he struggled in the final third sometimes but his running definitely got us up the pitch. Saying that, he did create the most chances in the match with two.

WILSON ISIDOR: 7/10

Until the goal, he should have put himself about a bit more. There were a few moments where he was aim a good position and just wasn’t found in fairness though. The goal was beautifully taken and testament to his pace and him staying calm after almost being bested by the defender.

SUBS:

AARON CONNOLLY: 6/10

He didn’t do a ridiculous amount but there was some encouraging signs on his Sunderland debut.

ALAN BROWNE: N/A

He came on after the 80th minute so he doesn’t get a rating. There was little wrong with what he did do though.
