NEIL POST PLYMOUTH

Dan Neil agrees with Regis Le Bris and says Sunderland's defeat at Plymouth is a learning curve which needs to be reflected on before preparing for Boro next week...

GAME OF TWO HALVES

“Probably a game of two halves. I thought in the first half we controlled the game in and out of possession, we moved the ball well, used the wide areas well, defended well man for man. The second half was always going to be different and difficult. This is always a tough place to come and we just didn’t adapt to how they came out in the second half. They came out with a bit more energy and we just didn’t adapt to that.”

STILL GOOD POSITION

“We’re all gutted in there that we've got our first defeat of the season but I think we can’t let it get on top of us too much. If someone said we’d win four out of five at the start of the season everyone would have taken that. We’re disappointed with this result today, we’re going to look and analyse it, see where we went wrong, but we need to remember that we’re still in a very good position and we’ve played some very good football this year. We’ve won some good games in good style, so we’ll get home, rest and recover, put it to bed and get ready for Middlesbrough next week.”

REFLECT AND MOVE ON

“We need to get it out of our system quick, but I don’t think we can just not reflect on it. We have to look at it and see where we went wrong. We’re going to come to places like this more this year, and these are the types of games we lost last year as well. Although we’ve started the season well, these are the games we have to be bang up for. We have to make sure we’re winning duels, running harder and things like that. So, there’s definitely some reflection to do from the team for this result but, like I said, we’ll reflect on it, get it out of our system and get ready for next week.”
