LO9 ON PRE SEASON

Luke O’Nien has reflected on his first week under Regis Le Bris as the players returned for their pre-season preparations. Whilst speaking well of Le Bris’ philosophy, he has also been singing the praises of some of the lads who are already sharp.

GLAD TO BE BACK

“It's been really enjoyable so far. They've worked us hard. It’s flown by those six years and I am looking forward to starting my seventh season.”

GETTING BACK IN THE GROOVE

“We’ve already caught up and heard about people’s summers. Where to go and where not to go. It’s been nice catching up with people and obviously getting back on the grass and getting the stiffness out and getting that fitness built up. With the fixtures coming out as well we know what we are working towards which is nice as well. We know the first fixture so it makes that run kind of easier.”

REGIS LE BRIS

“He’s addressed the team a couple of times, we’ve gone over a little bit of the philosophy so far. He likes it when it goes into training straight away so even though we’re six or seven days in, the philosophy in the way we’re playing and the style, that is in there straight away which gives us five more weeks to learn it for the first game of the season which I think is important that everybody knows each others jobs and he has made that very clear. It’s not just focusing on yourself it’s focusing on every single person so we all know what each other is doing which makes, as he said it, an unpredictable game a bit more predictable.”

LOOKING GOOD SO FAR

“So it’s been really enjoyable, I’ve really enjoyed working with him and the running team have been putting us through our paces both on the grass and in the gym as well. The boys are looking sharp, some boys have come back absolutely flying so they’ve been setting standards. Romaine’s come back and you get the ball at his feet and he’s dangerous already so he’s making me a better defender on day one. Boys are looking good and it has been very enjoyable so far.”
