CURRENT TRANSFER CRAIC

While Sunderland haven't officially signed or sold anyone yet, there are some interesting rumours which seem to be picking up traction as deadline day drags on.

HEMIR GOING

In one of the most bizarre transfers of recent years, it seems that Hemir is set to leave Sunderland and sign for... Juventus? The Italian giants must have been shown videos of his pre-season goals, with Speakman desperately trying to distract them from looking at his Championship record. Initially it seemed like this was a loan, with the option to buy, but now it appears that he will join Juve permanently which is... interesting. Of course, he will play for their B team but in fairness he seems like the kind of player who might be more suited to playing in a European league, where the climate is a bit hotter and all the fans aren't on his back.

AHMED ABDULLAHI

One of the many strikers to be linked with Sunderland today is Ahmed Abdullahi, who plays for Gent. He is 20 and scored 21 times in 38 matches for Gent’s reserve team, they play in the third tier of Belgium. He’s also played two games for their senior side as well. It has been said that this would be a player "for the future" which suggests he might line up for our under-21 side.

MEPHAM ARRIVING

One of the early bit of transfer news today was that Sunderland had agreed a loan move for Bournemouth centre half Chris Mepham. The 6ft 4 defender is expected to come in following Aji Alese's injury, which is worse than initially expected. The loan is a straight loan, with no option or obligation to buy the 26-year-old Wales international. This morning, it was reported that he was headed to the north east for his medical.

ORBAN LOOKS LIKELY

It has more recently been reported that there is a "good chance" Lyon striker Gift Orban will sign for Sunderland today. The Lyon striker is keen to join Sunderland and is waiting for the Black Cats to finalise the loan deal. You would imagine that if Hemir heads to Italy, the Black Cats won't weaken their striker ranks before certainly, absolutely having a number nine lined up to come in.
