SWANS RATINGS

Sunderland were defeated at home by Swansea City due to a performance that can be most generously described as lethargic. A goal from Ben Cabango, created via a free kick, was the difference.
ANTHONY PATTERSON: 4.5/10
Should have done better with their goal, he sort of just flapped at it. Distribution was way off and he showed practically zero urgency for most of the 90 when playing out from the back, he was nearly caught out for this in the first half.
ALAN BROWNE: 4.5/10
Could have caused a goal before the break, when he sloppily gave the ball away which allowed one of their players through on goal. Didn’t fight for the ball well at all.
CHRIS MEPHAM: 5/10
A goal from a set piece into the box doesn’t reflect very well on the centre backs. He wasn’t shining throughout and gave the ball away a couple of times in quick succession to give our opponents some chances.
LUKE O’NIEN: 5.5/10
Showed some quality but he wasn’t fantastic. A lack of urgency when receiving the ball from Patterson.
TRAI HUME: 6/10
Probably our best defender today, put in a decent cross late on that Isidor almost snuck over the goalkeeper and into the net. Still, I thought he could have done a bit more at times.
DAN NEIL: 6.5/10
Had a few bright moments, some passes that led to chances or a nice dribble here and there.
CHRIS RIGG: 6/10
Pretty average from him. Similarly to Neil, there were a few promising moments. Struggled when things got physical.
PATRICK ROBERTS: 6.5/10
Lots of forward runs, they never ended up causing enough threat though. He possibly could have gotten a shot away a couple of times when he cut inside and whenever a Swansea player challenged him for the ball he seemed to come out worse quite often.
HARRISON JONES: 5.5/10
A harsh rating for his first league start, however he wasn’t able to do much. Got into a good position a few times but there was one occasion when he should have had a shot when he received the ball inside the box.
TOMMY WATSON: 6.5/10
Looked dangerous at times, he was in space on three or four occasions and just didn’t receive the ball. Could have challenged for the ball with more desire.
WILSON ISIDOR: 5.5/10
Largely absent in this one, aside from one header that almost caught the goalkeeper out. Offside constantly and crumbled whenever anyone fought him for possession.
SUBS:
ENZO LE FEE: 7/10
Our best player, that’s saying something because he was only on the pitch for just over half an hour. His passing caused some worry for Swansea.
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 6.5/10
His crossing would have resulted in something on a slightly different day and he performed some good dribbling out on the right.
SALIS ABDUL SAMED: 6/10
It’s always going to be tough when you’re a defensive midfielder and you’re brought on when we are chasing the game. He looked tidy enough but right at the death he chose to send it long out wide rather than just throw it into the box and see what happened.
MILAN ALEKSIC: 5/10
Barely noticed him to be honest.
LEO HJELDE: N/A
No rating because he was only on the pitch for a few minutes, it’s a shame his league unbeaten streak whilst playing is now over.
