SAFC RECEIVE INJURY BOOST

Sunderland's squad will look a lot stronger on Monday night, with both Romaine Mundle and Alan Browne available after lengthy injuries. Bizarrely enough, the pair both sustained injuries in our draw with Coventry back in November. When Mundle is involved, it is expected that Enzo Le Fee will move into his more natural position in the centre of midfield, rather than being shoehorned out wide, and this could potentially provide a good opportunity to give Chris Rigg a much-needed rest and avoid burnout.

INJURED TRIO

"He is back involved with full training. We expect to have him in the squad on Monday. It’s an option for us, we’ll see. Now we have many players available so the selection will be tough. He should be available. Alan came through the game in the week okay. He is ready to play. Tommy will be back in training next week.”

PATIENCE REQUIRED

“Romaine and Tommy are two strong wingers, so it will be good news for us to have them back. But at the same time, they will need a bit of time to recover their level. This Championship is very strong and when you’ve missed two, three months - you don’t recover your level straight away. We will be patient and when they are ready, it will give us options."

SQUAD DEPTH

“With the number ten (position) for example, Riggy is still 17 and he has played so many minutes at an impressive level. This is difficult to maintain, so to have different options will be good.”
