NORWICH RATINGS

Sunderland made it three clean sheets from as many games and seven points from the last possible nine after a goalless draw at Carrow Road, mathematically confirming the play-offs as a result. The first half was poor, especially going forward but following the restart, and some regular starters coming off the bench, we grew into the game more and a had a couple of decent chances.

ANTHONY PATTERSON: 8/10

Made three saves, one of which came after an error made outfield, his distribution was actually very good today and he commanded his box well. Another well earned clean sheet.

TRAI HUME: 7.5/10

Distributed the ball well to Aleksic and was involved in a lot of our attacking work overall. Defensively did well enough, adapting well to switching sides.

CHRIS MEPHAM: 8/10

Bailed us out late on when Norwich hit us on the counter and never looked uncomfortable when challenged.

LUKE O’NIEN: 7.5/10

The odd wayward pass but defensively solid. His yellow was probably avoidable.

LEO HJELDE: 7/10

Booted the ball straight up into the air during the first half when trying to clear it and it came straight back down and almost caused some serious issues. Nothing glaringly bad other than that, I thought he did well in the air.

ALAN BROWNE: 5.5/10

Struggled when battling for the ball and wasn't too effective in possession.

DAN NEIL: 5/10

Kept giving the ball away in the first half and missed a great chance to shoot towards the death. Improved after the break but not his best shift in the last few weeks.

CHRIS RIGG: 6/10

Probably the best of our midfielders, still distinctly average though.

MILAN ALEKSIC: 3/10

Couldn’t get past his man to save his life, attempted one cross and it went straight into the keeper’s arms and couldn’t cope when he had to try and win the ball off someone or avoid having it taken off of him.

ELIEZER MAYENDA: 6/10

Didn’t show up for the first half but then had our best chance of the game (and first shot) a bit into the second 45. Denied by a good block. This woke him up a bit and he threatened from then on.

TOMMY WATSON: 7/10

Drew a few fouls and looked lively, something could have come off for him on a slightly different night. Be that one of his crosses being taken advantage of or the ball bouncing more kindly.

SUBS:

PATRICK ROBERTS: 6/10

Didn’t do an awful lot aside from one sequence when he was involved in some sustained possession.

ENZO LE FEE: 7/10

Spotted a couple of passes that could have caused some trouble for our opponents.

WILSON ISIDOR: 6/10

Not much from him so I’ve just gone for a six.

HARRISON JONES: N/A

No rating because he came on after the 80th minute.
