Regis Le Bris has confirmed that Alan Browne and Romaine Mundle will both be out of action for an expected six to eight weeks. There had been rumours that Browne has broken a bone in his leg and Romaine Mundle has sustained a hamstring injury - both of these are now confirmed to be true.
DUO OUT
“They will both be six to eight weeks probably. Yes (it is true that Browne has broken a bone in his leg) but we can have different levels of fracture. So it should be around six to eight, yes.”
COULDN'T PREDICT THIS
“We have to manage this situation often in a season. As coaches we would like to have the full squad available all the time but it doesn’t work like that, especially in a long league like the Championship with 46 games. So we were prepared for that but it is always unpredictable. You cannot expect certain injuries or suspensions."
SQUAD DEPTH
"I think with the quality of the group and the depth of the squad we can manage many situations. Obviously in the first part of the season we played a lot with a core of 12-13 players where we created many different references which were almost automatic sometimes. That is good for the level of the players, but now we have to change many players - three, four or five I don’t know exactly. They have all trained with us before and they are talented players. They know the context, the culture, the game model. But they haven’t played a lot with the team in competitive games so probably we will struggle for those collective behaviours, but from a talent perspective we will still have good players on the pitch, so we will see.”
READY TO STEP UP
“As I mentioned just before, football is unpredictable and life is unpredictable so we have to manage the situation with confidence. I trust the team, the players, the mindset of the team. It was the case this morning that we had the full group back after this international break, and the mindset of the team was very good. These players have played in the Championship before, obviously not in this team setup, but they are ready. Yeah.”
