Fan favourite Wilson Isidor gave a passionate interview after the Blackburn draw where he spoke about ending his goalscoring draught and spoke about his reaction to seeing the 7,000 Sunderland supporters in the away end.
LATE EQUALISER
“It’s difficult to be happy today because we start the game (poorly), we concede a goal in the first half and then we react as we know how to, and make it 2-1. And then it’s really difficult to accept a goal again in the last ten minutes. So, it’s a controversial result but today we are happy because we gave emotion to the fans and that’s the main thing. We would prefer to give them the win but it was a tough game.”
GOALSCORING FORM
“I was waiting for that. Seven games is a long period but today I’m happy to get back on the scoresheet. Also, the gaffer gave me a lot of confidence and my teammates were pushing me every time in training, and the fans were there every time saying to me “you will score, you will score”. It gave me a lot of confidence and made me not drop my head down. Today I am really happy to score, a little bit not happy to get the win because I would love to get the winner but it’s okay. I’m still happy to score and to help the team take a point.”
UNBEATEN IN FIVE
“Of course, we are happy to keep going unbeaten but the most important thing is the win. We know where we want to go and we know where we want to finish, so we cannot be satisfied with one point. We want to win every game because we are Sunderland. We need to win every game. It is still good to go unbeaten but we want more.”
ONTO STOKE
“Stoke, we played them a couple of weeks ago so it will be a tough game. We know them, it’ll be really difficult but the objective will still be the same - bring back the three points to Sunderland and keep continuing.”
LOVE THE FANS
“It was my first Boxing Day game and when I came onto the pitch I was just like “oh my god”. It was amazing. I have never seen so many supporters for an away game! We know we have the best supporters in England - I don’t know if I can say that, but in the North East for sure - and it was just amazing. I want to thank them for coming to this game and giving us the support we need every time. I’m just a little bit sad we didn’t give them the win for Christmas.”
