Regis Le Bris has confirmed that Eliezer Mayenda will miss Sunderland's trip to Oxford due to the concussion protocol, but he is showing no symptoms so should be available to train on Sunday ready for the final game of the season. RLB also shone some light on some of Sunderland's longer-term absentees.
CAUTIOUS WITH MAYENDA
"Eliezer is in the concussion protocol right now until Sunday. So he’s fine, without symptoms, but we have to be very cautious with him."
CIRKIN ON BENCH
"Dennis should hopefully be on the bench this weekend and maybe can get 25, 30 minutes of game time.”
MUNDLE/SEELT/ALESE
"The week before the play-offs we will have Romaine, probably one or two more players but we'll have to wait. For Ballard he will be available for next Sunday. (Seelt) is available now. (Alese) has the same target as Mundle."
POVEDA
"The other one is Ian Poveda, he'll be available around the 5th of May. He was injured and we tried our best and he is trying his best as well, to get him fit at the end of the season. If we can find a short window with another player who can help, we will try our best."
HUGGINS
"Niall trains with the team but after around 12 months now, obviously the connection with the game and his references need time. He is a good guy, a good footballer, but with 12 months away from the competition it is tough to recover your level. But we don't know. He is really positive and it is still helpful to have these kinds of players because he is a good teammate. We don't know when it will happen."
