CIRKIN SETBACK

Sunderland have issued a brief update on Dennis Cirkin after the fullback suffered an injury in our 3-0 defeat at Coventry City.

The club said: "Dennis Cirkin will no longer join up with England Under-21s after picking up an injury during Saturday’s game against Coventry City. The defender, who had received his first call-up to Lee Carsley’s squad, was replaced in the second half and is now undergoing further assessments by the Club’s medical staff. Further updates will be provided in due course."

It remains to be seen how long Cirkin will be out, but it is believed to be a hamstring issue. Leo Hjelde missed the Coventry game due to a minor injury of his own, but is expected to be fit again to face Alex Neil's Millwall after the international break.

In more positive news, Enzo Le Fee could also be back for the Millwall game with Dan Ballard and Salis Abdul Samed possibly two weeks later. Of course, the squad needs to be in proper shape as we head to the final stretch of the season to build some positive momentum going into the play-offs.
