Sunderland were given a reality check this afternoon at the SOL suffering a 3-0 loss to Manchester City. Anyone getting carried away and dreaming of Europe after our encouraging win at Spurs last week shouldn’t dig out their passport just yet. A brace for Shawn Wright Phillips and a late first half opener from alleged former SAFC transfer target Stephen Ireland sealed the lads’ fate…

Well, that was a canny week. Two away wins, including Roy’s first cup game victory, the arrival of yet another Premier quality player in Ferdinand and Birmingham being found guilty of ripping us off. City might have won last week, but behind the scenes, they’re up there in the Mag category of disarray, with an “international fugitive” at the helm. As ever, there’s been an air of anticipation around SAFC, as we can’t wait for the next game to come along.…

Following the highs of last weekend’s win in the capital, ending a thirty year wait for victory at Spurs, we turn our attentions to Man City this weekend. Following their trip to play FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Cup on Thursday evening, our game has been put back a day to Sunday, meaning we'll now have to wait until October for a traditional Saturday 3pm kick off.
